Ok, now that you see this, the question is for a 1600, 2002 application, but it does involve comparing sizes of Roundels and since a lot of us e9 owners also have 2002 experiences, I thought I would start here. Please see the attached pic.

Early (roundies, 68's thru 73's) had the rear roundel on the trunk panel above the bumper and to the right of the license plate.

It is @ 12mm smaller in diam. than the hood or trunk roundels used on e9's The larger is @ 82mm and the smaller is @70mm

Does anyone here know af a source/price if avail. for the smaller one with the 'correct' raised lettering?

The part number on the one I have is 18015688.

Anyone??? thanks DCG

DCG you should be posting on a 2002 list (you knew that). One of the better ones (no personal affiliation) is bmw2002faq.com

The correct part number for any and all bimmer/beemer parts will have 11 digits not the eight you listed. For correct part numbers, www.realoem.com was one of the first, if not THE first, website to put the BMW parts fiche online. Go there and find the correct part number, then ask your suppliers about getting your bits.

(Back after a brief pause) I did what I wrote (you're welcome) and apparently your part is shown at http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=ST12-USA-04-1972-114-BMW-2002&diagId=51_3336

There are two "Badges" listed, 51 1 45 480 181 and 51 1 41 801 560 and no size is shown for either. One is rather more expensive than the other. Ball is in your court.

Charlie,

Wayne can post here anytime he likes about a 2002, there are lots of owners here. Second, those roundels have an 8 digit number on the back so it makes sense to compare that number. The one ending in 560 is the correct size but Wayne wants to make sure it has raised letters.

Wayne,

Carl can get one for you.

Chris.

Wayne, if you don't find what you need, drop me a note...I have an NOS 51141801560 with raised letters...in the bag that I bought it in about 9 years ago. I doubt that that guarantees that you order a new one with that number that you for sure get raised letters...I don't know, without some corporate research, that the dealer could even assertain without ordering one...

(ps, the back of mine says 18015603, almost looks like...608, magnifier says 603)

I think I have one, maybe a couple of these rear panel Roundels... I believe they are NLA... ones I have will need to be repainted which is easy task with Testors model paints.

You can also ping Connor at Vintage Autobahn near Portland... he has a warehouse of vintage BMW parts... for Coupes, NK, 2002, 1600s, etc.... https://vintageautobahn.wordpress.com/02-parts/

Post a WTB ad at BMW2002FAQ... someone will have one.
