I have a possible opportunity to buy these rims... Not sure what I should pay, from the pics I can see some curb rash and they look like they need to be restored. Can't tell until I see them in the Raw, but just curious. Best I can gather is that they are NOT Alpina and they are the squared turbines.

Thanks.
Greg

Turbines

If they are 6x14 These are not very desirable in market terms. The squared off spoke versions were much later (e12 etc) IMO the ones fitted to the e3 and e9 with the rounder spokes (usually made by FPS)are much nicer they also come in both 6x14 and 6.5x 14 sizes, the larger being quite rare.

Definitely not one of the better looking stock BMW rims out there. Many people can't give them away. As stated before, go with the earlier rounded spokes 6x14" FPS wheels or better yet, the stock 7x14" CSL Alpina wheels, albeit more pricey.

7x14" Alpinas.

I like them. They bring back good memories and that is 50% of taste preferences, associations. Another 50% is what the herd says they like, and another 50% is price.

My cars are better now. Times were better then. Yep, nostalgia is another 50%.

I've always been confused by this. These are what are on my coupe.

16" BMW turbines, correct?

Only wheels I like more on Coupes are full blown Alpinas with the covered hubs.

I'll have to see what's stamped on them. If I recall correctly, they're stamped with BMW on them.

I was hoping they were Alpinas when I first saw them, but they're not stamped as such.

What ever they are, I like them, and that's all that matters.

The bmw "turbines" have a ridge on either side of each spoke then angle up where the spoke meets the rim (as seen in the original pic) and were 14" before they made the alpina style for 1974. "alpinas" are turbine style wheels with flat spokes and no ridges, so yours are either alpina or one of the other makers of the day (Ronal, FPS, et al). They have 20 spokes so they don't appear to be the chinese ones on ebay. So generically, yours would be referred to as "alpinas" not "turbines" at least that's how I see it.
