Back in the mid 80's when I got my first coupe I joined this and received the newsletters with tips, mods etc. and they were a great source of info (the advice saved my shock towers), I am in the market for another coupe and would like to get all those back issues as is offered, is this site still being maintained? I emailed Art but haven't heard back so am wondering if anyone here knows if I can get copies of those back issues etc. Thanks.

Tech Link Update?

Dear Steve,

There was a recent thread regarding the CS Registry whereby one of the administrators had given tech info/ access for this site to one of the administrators of this site.

The Tech link here isn't active which brought about the initial question from here.

Perhaps there is an update? X; HB?

I've tried Art as well; no response. ( My coupe has one of the original window stickers - Register before they changed to registry; so I was looking for an prevous owner/ early car info) But someone is still there because the content on the classifieds changes occassionally

First Fives has a lot of the old info on it. If there's something in particular you're looking for ask- some of us made copies of certain things and may have it. I recently repaired my a/c rattling-bracket bushings using the old site tech tips. Worked great too.

I'd be willing to help scan if there is printed material for those early days of the coupe group.

Up date pls?

Thanks 61Porsche, there isn't anything specific I am looking for, but before I embark on a coupe hunt I was hoping to buy all those back issues as is offered on that site (volumes 1-15 from 1981-1999) to have as a reference. If someone has them I hereby volunteer to buy and scan them all and organize/PDF them for future users and/or return the originals to the owner(s), heck I'd be willing to maintain the registry site as well and keep it fresh, I offered to do so when Charlie Richardson maintained it but then I sold my coupe and 23 years passed! It would be great to have those issues and any other old club stuff available online to us coupe freaks and I would gladly take the project on. My previous coupe also had one of those stickers. Please let me know if anyone has any leads, thanks, this is a great forum.

I bought a box full ..about 75 issues from a member here with the same intentions. After going through them I am not sure that much will be added that you could not find on this site. If anyone is near Thousand Oaks CA and want to stop to look and see if scanning them is a worth while venture...be free to email me.

I think it sound great, but first Art should be contacted somehow. If he allows to use his website, it is okay.

We've tried to contact Art at the email address on the site, does anyone else have contact info?

Why

Heck I'd be willing to maintain the registry site as well and keep it fresh

Why? The registry site is waay stagnant and many of the members of moved here. I am not sure of the mailing list status. Art is basically unreachable and the one time he responded to one of my emails to combine forces years ago was not a positive experience.

If you have time and web experience, you should continue to build out this site, i.e. Faqs, common links/repairs, etc.

CS Register--deterioration

As an early and now a long term E-9 owner I became a member of the Coupe Register in the early 1980's and looked forward to the newsletter and its then useful articles that were posted and printed. Unfortunately when the Registry--name changed from Register--was transferred to the PhD "gate keeper" husband-wife team, it started downhill fast, and many of us simply gave up on their "know it all" attitudes that were rarely disguised from its dwindling membership.

The reality is--it was successfully destroyed by those who voluntarily and enthusiastically assumed its care--but who fostered arrogance, envy, neglect and other emotions to have priority over its care and upkeep--thus bringing about its demise--and now it's dead--just not buried.

My hat's still off to the Charlie Richardsons, and other pioneer curators of the publication of the guide during our early days of Coupe care and link of our commaraderie of ownership.

Long live the E-9 message board--our improved source of all that's Coupe worthy--vibrant in spite of several naysayers whose comments all too frequently appear that have little to add that provides positive input of value to other Coupesters.
