Can anyone recommend a competent bodyworker in the UK (i'm in London, but skill is more important than location).

I'd like to get the top panel for my front struts replaced on either side and the engine bay area repainted - any advice would be welcome

Thanks

Munich Legends seem to have a good reputation.
Be warned though to replace the panels you mention is a tricky and involved process to do properly which of course equals expensive!

Or Jaymic Bodyshop in Norfolk are pretty good. I had a load of work done by them about 18 months ago. Not exactly local to London, or me, but they'll store your car FOC for as long as it takes to do the work.

Talking about the strut tops, can anyone tell me is there meant to be a strip of steel between the inner guard/frame and the outer guard?

Surfaceanddesign.com - These guys have the old TVR paint shop and some of TVR's best guys there, they're also restoring my coupe as we speak!

Thanks for the tips guys - I like the sound of the Jaymic bodyshop. I'll post an account of my experience once i've had the work done

Hi Christopher, I have heard varying accounts on Jaymic but I believe there have been changes there and these views are quite old. I think the labour rate is fairly high given they are in Norfolk however.

I visited DC Coachworks in Southampton a while back and was fairly impressed but ended up having the work done in Lithuania instead.

Regards,

Rohan

There are 3 pieces: a long piece that is attached to the inner fender/guard and 2 smaller pieces that bridge between that piece and the outer fender/guard.

The long piece is part number 7 in the diagram above. The short pieces are numbers 3 and 7 in the diagram below:

Christopher, I would also recommend TT Workshops, West Wiltshire ... co connection to my own intitials, that's coincidental.

Their rates are reasonable and their work excellent, will work to your schedule, budget and direction whilst telling you what they think needs/should be done. But, approx 120 miles West of London, and a long way from me too. My car is there at the moment.

Paint shop looks archaic but they are not short of skills such as making anything up from scratch - reskinned my doors 20 years ago.
