What's the difference in the bottom radiator hose before and after 10/73? (Early = 11 53 1 251 520, Late = 11 53 1 266 462). I have the Ireland silicone hose kit (supposed to be the late style) and the bottom hose doesn't seem to fit very well. I suspect the difference must be in the radiator? The radiator is new and I have no idea what year it's intended for. The engine is an M30B34 but the connection there is always the same as far as I can see.

Yes it's motronic. Makes sense that the hose would be different to go around that, but why would the hose change in 10/73, almost 10 years before motronic existed?

I see now that the motronic is my problem, a carbed thermostat housing points downward at a different angle. So whatever change occurred in 10/73 is irrelevant to what I'm doing. I'm going to try buying an E28 hose and chopping the bottom elbow off of it. I assume that's what the other motronic guys are doing. If it were complicated, there would be details online somewhere.
