I received from the dealer a metal reinforced hose with black textile weave cover. No markings though!
But it looks real neat :-)

Quality and price are OK, so you really don't need to look for a replacement hose, according to me.

Your new hose matches the original with the cloth covering. When ordered from a dealer here we get the plain rubber reinforced hose, wonder if they have changed?
 
so what am i looking for when i go to bimmer

and how much is the hose?
i went to autozone looking for something with a suitable wall thickness
but they didn't have anything
 
12x17 is a common size, it should be available almost anywhere without the BMW logos. If you want the logos or the cloth covering, order from the dealer.

i went to the dealer and they gave me a vacant stare.
then he said he gotta get the old car parts specialist...
i told him it's for a 69 2800cs... and he confirmed saying it's for a 4 door sedan, right?

anyway...they said they don't have anything like it...
not even parts for a 635csi...and that's the dealer
i was like 'you guys suck furball'
 
On my E12 six series, I used fabric covered hose from BAP. Probably VW. I then found an appropriate size door spring and reinforced the hose so it wouldn't collapse from vacuum. Total cost?? Way under $10
