Hi All

Can someone explain to me what the brake cylinder does on rear drums like on 2800 cs. Wondering these are only items not changed. Will these impact braking etc - they are available from jaymic at reasonable price.

thanks

The wheel cylinder is what translates the pressure you apply with your foot from the pedal, through the master cylinder, brake lines and the ultimately to the pads and drums by expanding the brake shoes. If you want to keep the stock setup on your 2800, then having a nice fresh rear wheel cylinder is a good idea. They wear out over time, mostly by rusting up. For most cars from the past they are cheap and tend to be thrown out rather than rebuilt. Rebuilding is easy though if they are in decent shape. Not sure if the 2800 shared it's rear cylinder with more common models or what the supply of good blanks is.
