brake fluid ATE Blue racing (illegal in the US)

just renewed brake and clutch fluid, using ATE blue racing this time to clearly know when all has been changed ;-)



last year i used BMW yellow fluid, but this year was time for a complete renewal of fluid, so i took advantage of the blue dye that ATE uses in this particular performance fluid



that was done during the weekend, and today, i have just found in north america ATE web page that they have decided to remove all blue fluid from their production, and even offering replacement of previously purchased bottles from customers, it seems that there is a law in the US about brake fluid being only transparent or amber,...

...sorry guys, the two colours gave a good way to check this evidence of complete change,

i hope that blue will be available here in europe normally :roll:
 
Hmmm

The purpose of the color requirement in the standard is to permit easy identification of brake fluids before they are placed in the vehicle, in order to prevent the mixing of an incompatible fluid in a braking system. If an incompatible fluid is put into a motor vehicle brake system, it could lead to brake damage or brake failure.

Not sure what this says about us Americans? Maybe they'll just weld the hoods shut on all cars sold in the US.

I was surprised to see recently when I bought our new Mazda CX5 that it had no temp gauge.

I guess if it ever gets too hot it will just turn off?

Seems computers do everything these days.
 
Color was too close to Gatorade. Gatorade complained because brake fluid also tasted better and they were losing market share.
 
I can't wait till we are not allowed to parallel park or back up on our own as well.
 
Ate Super Blue stash

Glad I stocked up on a lot of the Super Blue last year. I like to alternate between using the Super Blue and the Ate Type 200 (amber color). Every two years I flush the entire system on all three of my cars using a Motive pressure bleeder.
 
I'll be in the minority but I didn't care for Super Blue. It lightly stained blue the reservoir of another car I used it in. Anyone else have this happen in their coupe?
 
They should make a universal brake fluid that is one color when new and discolors over time and use. You know when to replace and helps flush the old one.

I have noticed that, but most of the reservoirs on my cars are yellowed out from age, so the staining doesn't bother me. With a new reservoir I could see it being an issue.

Not on a coupe (I don't own one), but this happened to my e39 sedan.
