In another discussion, there is mention of a "build sheet" found under one of the rear seats. Could someone post an example of this document or point us in the right direction to locate one?

TIA

I don't think there is such a document, say like that produced for Mercedes of the same era that can still be obtained now. If there was one it must of been with the original documentation when the car was new

Somebody may know different

However BMW Mobile Tradition can provide some information about your car such as:
1... Date of manufacture
2... Original colour
3... Where it was originally delivered to

LLoyd, Malc, I have owned bmw's for many years, and every one of them has a build sheet. (i'm not sure about the M5's from Garching) I wish I could confirm with the location of the one on my coupe, but it is still arcross the great border between us and canada.

The 2 build sheets I have found are:

1) 1973 BMW 2002 - located attached to the lower portion of the bottom rear seat.

2) 1987 BMW 535i - located attached to the lower portion of the bottom rear seat.

If your car is stock, I'll bet you will find it hanging there, wrapped around one of the lenghthwise springs.

The sheet in the 2002 was a little smaller than the one in the pic and had green ink.

Here is what the buildsheet in the latter car, looks like:

You can get better and more info from Mobile Tradition. Apply for the certificate and they will give you all of the info they have on your car:

Besides after 30-35 years those rear seats have since been pulled, put back, replaced, rained on and that little slip of paper is probably long gone.
