Hi Folks,
I thought some of you might appreciate this. I bought an infamous old Wilton C1 bullet vise on CL for $100 last year.
Let me know if this picture works...
Freshening up the handle. I’m using a Nylox (nylon) flap disk to remove the old scale from the raw steel handle:
Greasing the shaft:
After grinding the anvil area flat, I had the vise blasted and powder coated. It is a “silver vein” color. It looks a bit darker on the floor versus up close. I wanted to match my black & silver tool drawers.
The jaws cleaned up nicely after blasting. I’ll keep them on for the moment:
A 12oz Stella to show some perspective on size:
I need to buy new swivel clamps for about $35 on Ebay, then it’s time to mount. I also need the pipe jaws. There are loads of parts for these on Ebay including new jaws, soft copper inserts, handles, clamps, etc. I think I’m going to go with toothless steel jaws and DIY aluminum angle inserts for sensitive parts.
This isn’t garage journal but feel free to add your stuff!
