My 73 came without a rear bumber. I have one now, but even looking at Mobile Tradition's parts diagrams, I'm unsure how to install it. The one I have is NOT the one that has the shock pistons. I have the blue books (service manual) but don't see anything about bumpers in them. Could someone send me photos of the installation, especially the way the heavy oval brackets install? I assume these must go inside the trunk. Also, are there supposed to be rubber cushions that go between the body and the front edges of the bumper, where they bolt to the rear fender? My front bumper has these, but it's not on the rear one I have. If so, any source?

Thanks!

The `73 bumper and the mount is unique to that car. The hoops bolt to the bumper and then to the body with two bolts each (visible when you lift up the trunk boards). An earlier bumper will not mount to the hoops, the attachment points are different. There are two rubber covers that sit on top of the hoops and are secured with the mounting bolts to the body. These covers are NLA and are extremely hard to find. The ends of each bumper mount to the side of the car with a bracket that has a rubber edge to it, these too are different from earlier coupes I believe. You can convert a `73 to the earlier style but I have no experience there. Good luck.
