Bumper questions

Hoping I can get some info on bumpers. My 74 came with the "guardrail" style bumpers and I don't think I can put them back on, it would really be a shame. I was wondering what the last year of the nice chrome & rubber bumpers was and what the best year(s) are or are they pretty much the same. Are there any years that won't fit-etc,?

as i understand it - '69 to '72 models are all the same in terms of bumpers and brackets. the '73 model changed the mounts slightly, and the front over-riders changed. i believe the beefier mounts moved the front bumper out slightly. personally, i like the 69 to 72 bumpers the best.

check out the search function above and look up different threads on changing the '74 bumper to earlier bumpers ... you will have to decide if you are going to use the plugs for the big holes in the front apron - add metal to the apron - or leave the holes.

I guess I have to make a decision on the holes soon as I have a paint appt. Tuesday . That leaves me a night to weld up any holes-

Converting to euro bumpers was the best decision I made on my 74. Plenty of threads here on the process and costs.

Now is the time to weld up the holes. Front bumper conversion can maintain the current mounting holes by using the mounts from Pamp. Rear needs a patch job.
