What are they worth? These need to be rechromed.

Really depends on how much rust and how many/big dents. I think $1000 for everything without a closer exam might be reasonable. But it could be high or very low if there’s more dirt than corrosion & they could be cleaned up for decent drivers for a while w/o re-chrome.

The cost of fixing rust and a lot of dents/pitting can jack up the re-chrome price beyond what you can purchase a restored set for. Often they rust on the back side. I have a set where chrome remains on the face near the ends but there is almost zero metal left behind it. While the overriders & brackets add value, they can be a point of rust/failure. If you separate the pieces, clean them up, and take an annoying amount of photos, you’ll get best price. No-dent/no rust center pieces & overriders can be hard to find.

Edit: When I say “clean them up,” I don’t mean doing any sanding, etc. Chrome guys tell you it’s better if they remove old nickel, copper, chrome, & fix pits—almost always costs more to re-do others’ attempts to correct them. Don’t know if that’s true, but I’ve heard it enough now, to believe they’ll make it true.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I just purchased my first e9 I received alot of spare parts along with it and I was seeing the interest in these bumpers since I'm not a fan of how they look. I might try get as much money for them so a cleanup might be worth it. Is there a up to date price list I may be able to use as a guide? Both for purchases and sales.

Best you can do is search the parts forum. Many (not all) of the bumper pieces on ebay or craigslist are heart breakers: over-priced and under-disclosed.

Please don't take offense, but as you might note from the warning at the top of the parts forum, we've had a significant number of sellers scamming or attempting to scam buyers recently. So you might have trouble selling them here until you've completed a few transactions, have a longtime member vouch for you, or provide some other proof of life. I know that's a bit of a Catch-22, but we've got a good group of folks here who are pretty protective of one another, and folks will be skeptical until they're not.

We try not to deal in bummers here...Jay's thoughts are right on the money. And as he said, cleaned up means value added...prettier usually is more saleable; but not covered up with fresh paint or armorall or similar. Truth in advertising will win friends, and ultimately that works best here.

One caveat with cleaning up, is that rusty bolts are no fun to remove (while trying to do no further damage..) BUT, if you cant break them down into parts, shipping becomes horribly expensive. And time is money, obviously...But buyers want to buy want to buy, for example, the three piece front bumper and two brackets, and maybe some hardware for, say, $150 plus shipping...not $150 plus $100 to disassemble plus $50 for packing and a custom box and shipping...Been there on both sides of this...etc. Its why "local pickup" is a sellers friend, sometimes.

Softscrub Lemon, no bleach, an old tire brush, and some elbow grease will help your honest cause.

Welcome to the e9 group, BTW.

Well i think ill keep a nice rear bumper for myself but everything else is available. I think local pickup is easiest for me especially in these times, perhaps in the near future I might try restore them and sell them shipped but im also looking for trades. Again, I'm located in Vancouver area so those in need can pickup locally for now
