Let me clarify. You may vote for you own coupe, this is not cheating so you have no worry of receiving the rust curse. Cheating is trying to vote more than once; only I get to do that! :p

Also, there is no obligation to purchase just because you vote. When the results are in you can make you purchase decision. I ran the "how many" post just to get an idea for how many to order in the first batch. Fortunately I am having them printed locally and I can go back for more with 2-day turn around if needed. If I print too many there is always Ebay - I can always sell them to all the coupe owner wannabes!

Once I have a layout complete I am going to try and post images of each page if possible; no promises on this though because, as a novice, it will be a monumental task just dealing with all the photos and creating the final artwork. I also have a day job.

If you do that there are royalty fees to be paid

Just kidding :D

FANTASTIC work by you putting all this together :D

MY APOLOGIES to All but especially Orangener and Jonathan. I missed 6 photos from Orangener and 1 from Jonathan. They are now in the gallery. For those of you who have already voted you may re-cast if you want - just make sure you email says this is your intent.

Fortunately some of you are voting by photo number rather than two digit code or I might not have found this error - I had to go back a correlate each photo by sequence number with my files. Please feel free to vote either way. I realize now that the two digit code may be off the bottom of many screens where the index number is right up top.

Just to get an idea, a first draft of the back cover tribute to Blumax is below. I have reduced the resolution for web sharing.

Due to printing limitations there will be a 0.25" white border margin on each page. We could go border to board but this adds some real cost - you need larger paper and you must also pay for 3 sides trim up. This also usually requires more than a local print shop.

Hey JJ,

Since there are several pics of each car....when we vote, does our vote count for the photo or the car? In other words, if the same car gets votes spread among more than one of its pics...how is that handled?

Thanks

Right now it is a vote for the photo, not the car. I may have some dilemmas because some cars are clearly getting lots of votes which are spread over multiple photos. However, by in large the resulting are shaping up with a nice spread; there are clear favorites emerging (no hints). In the end, I may need to thin the heard because I personally think each car should be represented only once (we should have 12+1 cars). So, in a since you have a good point. I have never done this before so I wasn't (and still am not) sure how to best handle it. My proposal is:

1. There should be 12+1 unique cars selected
2. If a car's votes are spread over multiple photos then I will make some time of equitable adjustment
3. If a photo is portrait then I may pair it with a suitable partner (or not).
4. I'll publish final statistic showing rank ordering of photos and total votes.
5. Everyone need to give me a bit of editorial slack to technically produce the final product. I want to err on in the side of inclusion while respecting the group vote.

Again, anyone you wants to help may volunteer. :p We are getting down to the wire and I intend to have them published and shipped before Xmas if humanly possible. Unfortunately this human has considerable business travel in the near future.

John,
I think everyone is grateful for the time you are spending on this , so I would say you have all the slack in the world, the balls in your court and if anyone don't like it ,don't buy the calender !

jj,

Pic's all done. If I can't own all the cars I picked, 2 calendars will do fine. Stamp of approval of the Bluemax collage and font choice.

Picture write-in candidate

While all the cars in the gallery are very nice, it is unlikely that any other restoration has inspired as many as Paul Cain's. IMHO, it seems his car should get top honors.

Carey Lida's (ex) Alpina restoration would also be nice to see honored. If I remember correctly, it never lost an event.

Just my $0.02

The nice thing about the coupes on the calender is that they are driven & not garage or show queens . Paul Cains coupe is a beautiful example and so is Carys old Csl as are many other iconic coupes, but if they didn't submit the photos then they are out of luck for this year. All off what I call Iconic Coupes Pauls , Pings, Carys , tbl, essex bros racer,Quarrys and even Blumax have inspired us all and could spawn a calender of their own .

Hi JJ,

Great job on the calendar pics!! In addition to the cars, I love the backgrounds they are pictured with. I'm sure we all know a car or two, if not our own, that we would have liked to have been included.

Clearly Paul Cain's car is universally inspiring, whether driven regularly or not. But, theres is always next year. In the meantime, we all looking forward to seeing the fruit of your labor.

.....Besides if anyone feels that strongly, one could always paste a picture of a preferred substitute coupe on any given month. (LOL)

p.s.

WIll there still be room for the 2 sentence narrative on each car?

The narrative became a bit of a problem. It would have been nice; I think it would be easier if we start earlier next time and have a speficied format for submissions. Also, some people didn't want to share details and I must respect their rights - keeping it all sorted is also a hassle. Perhaps I can do a small write up after the fact; something that could be printed and kept with the calendar.

Status update. I just dropped everything off with the printer. I will have a first sample this evening. I ordered a lot of 100 and I should be able to pick them up on Monday.

We had a bit of a mishap in the process. I took raster files (2.5Gbytes) to the printer on a portable drive. The printer loaded them and then asked if I could bring back PDFs in the morning to make their life easer. I agreed and went home to produce the PDFs for this morning. When I got home it turns out the printer had moved my files from the portable drive rather than copying them. Fortunately I had a backup of all but one file. This morning I finished the job up at the printer shop.

As soon as I know the price for shipping and packing I'll publish ordering instructions. If all goes well that will be later today!.

Calendar orders are going just as fast as the badges. I count 50 sold already - this is the first time I've had a chance to check email since I opened up ordering! I have responded with confirmation to all orders (I think). If you think you have ordered and I haven't responded for more than 2-3 days please send a follow up note. I have disabled all SPAM filters by my service provider seems to filter some things anyway.

The printer assures me I can pick them up on Monday. I will need to print shipping labels and make a run to the post office. Anyway, personal and business affairs permitting I should get the first batch out by Wednesday.

I hope everyone is pleased with the results. The sample I got is something I will never through out. We need to make this an annual practice! We will be more organized next time.
