If any coupers are going to be around San Francisco on Sunday April 24th, I will be there for the start of the California Mille at the Fairmont Hotel. The rally starts Monday, but Sunday PM they have a car show in front of the hotel. My wife and I are entering a 1953 Lincoln Capri. Should be interesting driving a 4300 pound car with drum brakes around the hills of California. Anyway, stop by and say hello if you are in the area.

Congrats on doing one of the major NA vintage events (Colo Grand is another bucket list event for me). A racing buddy did it two years ago in an old Jag, and had a great time. While I have a couple eligible cars, I've been told im not part of the 'in' crowd wand won't ever get an invite. Post pics after the event...

They don't want the cops to know, so they don't tell you until you get there to register!

Have a great time! As far as I got was viewing the cars at the Fairmont in SF back in the early 2000's or late 90's, can't remember exactly.

My old boss Larry Mindel, the founder of Il Fornaio in the US, was a huge fan and used to drive his old Alpha's with his son Michael. He has some beautiful cars. If you're ever at the Corte Madera restaurant he has pictures on the wall, at least he used to.

It is definitely a ritzy crowd. I'm curious if he is still driving the event. If you want to make an instant friend, buy him a frozen Sapphire martini, no olive. And when I say frozen, I mean the bartender needs to put the Bombay Sapphire bottle in the freezer, pull it out once frozen and pour directly into a frozen martini glass. No mixing in a martini shaker with ice etc. It melted too much water into the drink...I'll never forget that....LOL... He will love it.

I think part of the attraction of the CG is that they close the roads so you can go as fast as you want. However the altitude acts as a speed limited for non-blown vintage cars.... Our E9's also lose quite a bit of power at 10000 ft, and the reduction in air resistance is not sufficient to balance that out.
