caliper question

It seems that e9 calipers may solve a wheel interference problem I have. Does anyone see any reason that I could not use the e9 caliper in place of the e12 on my little 02 big brake conversion? If so I'll be posting a WTB over in the classifieds.

IIRC...

Pete, seems to me from back in my tii days, that not only the e12 calipers but also calipers from early 6 series will do the job...?

On 5 bolt cars, the calipers from e3/e9 and e12 (early e24 are the same) are interchangeable. The only difference of importance is fitting vented vs. solid rotors.

The mount bolt size, spacing are the same on e3/e9 and e12, and the pads are the same, and unless I'm way off, even the pistons are the same. Just a little bit of difference in the external dimensions of the casting.

For reference, my early (10/74 prod) e12 had been swapped to CSi vented rotors and CSi calipers. I replaced the calipers with a rebuilt set for an e12, they were a straight bolt on swap.

If you can fit e12 calipers, they are CHEAP from places like Autozone.
