Calipers that will fit E3 E9 E12 and early E24 to fit vented rotors front and rear. I also have the front backing plates that I will include if wanted. The backing plates will need some simple straightening but are not rusted out nor have any major damage. $250 includes shipping for the calipers. If the backing plates are wanted you will have to pay the shipping on them as they won't fit in the box with the calipers.

Calipers for vented rotors front and rear. They will fit E3 E9 E12 and early E24. $250 shipped in the USA I also have the front backing plates I will throw in if wanted. They will need some easystraightening around the edges but are not rusty or rotted out. Ifyou want them you will have to pay the postage as tghey wont fit in the same box as the ca
Except e3 are not vented except on euro Si and later.

Stand corrected!!

If I am off on my price give me what you feel is a reasonable offer considering that shipping will be $20 in the US. and let's see if we can get together on a deal

IMO this is a reasonable price if they are rebuildable, considering these calipers are very hard to find in rebuildable condition. I bought a set of rears for $40 that turned out to be seized and useless. (Seller gave appropriate disclaimers and I assumed the risk, no blame intended).

I pulled a set from an 81 E24 at Pick Your Part in San Diego and paid about $125 all in, the cheapest price you can possibly imagine. Auto Zone has rebuilts on their website but they cannot get them, vendors have been out of stock for months.

@Bert Poliakoff ,

In my opinion the price is great. I know that @HB Chris mentioned that E3’s aren’t vented. The carrier is the same on an e3, since the strut housings have the caliper mounts, and the struts are interchangeable between e3 and e9. This would be a good upgrade for any e3 or 2800 CS.

These will all fit in a large priority flat rate. That covers all domestic states, up to 70lbs for $20.

I bought rebuilt front calipers for about $80 each. Found a set of good rears off of a 633csi for $40 and took the spacers out. My understanding is that you can bolt on vented rear discs on an e3, so it gets down to preference and cost.

Those calipers look pretty good, not like the crusty ones back east, I think the price is right on, BUT you cannot bolt those rears on any car that did not have vented rotors...there is a difference in the rear stub/hub where it is not a matter of just putting on vented rotors...Maybe with CS rear rotors but I doubt it. When I went to vented rears on one of the race cars, I had to use early e24 Euro rear trailing arms for some reason I don't think I could even just take the hubs and stubs out and use them in e3 arms...cannot remember why. I have not tried to use e24 rears on an e9 rear trailing arm so they very may work on those, which I think most people here are concerned with.

Ok. So are Bert's calipers from 76 up such as 630csi, 528, 530, 733i and not not from 3.0cs?

I was under the impression early 6 series up to 1983, 528, 733i etc. would have the same front and rear calipers as 3.0cs. The only difference being the caliper tops were slightly extended--but you could use it on an e9(and perhaps e3).

What I don't know is if you use, for example a 1981 633, 528, 530, 733i up to1983 caliper, whether you needed to change out the rotors to those years?

So why is this interesting? Well, if the computer programs that the wrecking yards use shows the newer once different due to mere size, irrelevant to its use on a 3.0cs, there are untapped sources that the non-BMW specialty wreckers would not know about, but we brilliant forum members could take full advantage of.

Now, if this is old news, I enjoyed it anyway.
I think I'll watch an episode of Foghorn Leghorn.
Any thoughts?

From an 78 635. Rotors should be for the same as the E9s didn't have these calipers and the purpose of these is that they accept vented rotors

Um...Bert how can the rotors be the same? The hubs are different, CS rotors bolt onto the hub from behind, all the later cars the rotors fit over the front of the hub and are secured by a 5mm Allen screw. CS did indeed have vented rotors....maybe Bavaria guys can use these BUT 78 635 hubs will not fit e3 or e9 as the bearing is bigger.

There is a way to make these work on the cars but you have to have hub from US e12 or e24 and use the 6er rotor which is thicker than the CS.

Easiest way to convert Bavaria to vented fronts is just use e9 CS hubs, rotors caliper so you retain wheel studs. Is real pain in ass to have to use 17mm and 19mm wheel attaching hardware.

Maybe your ads are responsible for some of the bs I saw over on the e3 FB group...I understand you are trying to sell parts but you are leading people to believe they can just bolt these on and have vented brakes....

Al, all I said above, was you had to use the 635 rotors with those calipers. But your information is great. keep it coming and I stand corrected
