My understanding is with Ljet you should stay under a 282 cam. I did have the one in my six reground by Schneider Cams in San Diego for $125, plus the cost of new eccentrics and shipping. They turned it around in less than 10 days. They also do Frank Fahey's cam work.

I believe the stock cam is 272 degrees. (PN: 11311254979)

Your other question regarding the differences of various camshaft profiles is not an easy one to answer. Much depends upon your intended use for the engine (driver quotidiano o burner del autostrada). The stock cam is a compromise: acceptable driveability at low and higher speeds along with emissions and fuel economy.

Many retailers offer new and reground cams. Schrick, is probably the best known. The short list below are in the US, but I would think there are many retailers near you in the Modena, Turino, Milano y Roma.

Speri che questo aiuti.
Buona fortuna!

Camshaft Specs

Found a couple of sources with info on M30 cam profiles worth passing on. The first was on the E28 blog - the one listed as M30 b30 E9 is the CS/Bav unit, often listed as 272* advertised duration. It looks like the M30 b35 Motronic cam would be an upgrade, nearly as much duration at .050 as the Schrick 284*:

Another source is BimmerPro.com, think this is a newer business in the San Diego area. The chart above can be used to compare duration .050 with their figures:

Is anybody familiar with BimmerPro?
