Hi guys a camshaft designed for the newer m30 engines with the new style distributor. will it fit in my 72mod m30 engine?
and the spec if it is designed for an injection how will it be on my carburetor setup?
this spec 284 grader. 11.2 mm lyft och 109 graders lobseparation
___________degree_________ lift________ lob

You'll have to add the camshaft conversion nut on the end, but I don't see a problem from a performance standpoint.

camshaft nut part #

The BMW part # is: 11 31 1 284 801 Nut for Camshaft (Repair for broken ears)

Keep in mind that the e34 cam is the same as all euro 3,5 cams for e23,e24,e28 motronic cars.

You will see a "K" stamped at the end of the cam which means it is a 264 cam

You could also see a white "K" painted on the cam between lobes 5 and 6

And there could be 3 bands of paint under that "K" , I would look in the factory manual for the color code.

Cam with Carbs question

If you have your original Zeniths you probably will not realize performance available from the slightly more agressive grind--due to the secondary vacumn advance in the Zeniths.

Had same issue with mine and had to go to pure mechanical secondaries that would immediately open when called upon--my solution was a pair of 38/38 Webers--really goes nice now and mid-range torque is abundant for quick passing at freeway speeds.

I don't think a 32/36 Weber would be adequate for displacement. Be prepared for low mpg in town with 38/38 as there is big temptation to tickle the go pedal--and that really sucks up the gas.
