Can anyone identify this oil radiator / cooler?

It’s an original Behr unit and it has pressurised oil lines, is it part of the power steering setup?

Is it worth anything to anyone?

Typical 6er or 7er style oil cooler.

Have a friend who mistook an oil line as a tow hook on his e28. I'd be interested in this chap!

Purchased one recently from W&N and the landed cost from Germany was around $400. A used one like yours, I think, isn’t worth much. In the specs for this all 1980s 7 series E23s used these. It also upped the total oil needed for the engine to 7 quarts. An essential component to the 745 turbo setup.

Looks like the one off my old e34 535 engine. I fitted it then took it off as it seemed to have little effect.

But no, its not. Mine had input and output next to each other on the bottom.

The oil filter canister has a thermostat built in for this application and only opens when oil reaches a certain temp. Similar to external cooling for the 3.07 diffs. Running at very high and prolonged speeds or a turbo application makes this a very good idea.
