Can anyone tell me what is missing in this photo?

Am I missing a heat shield or something? Exhaust is blowing out of this circled hole.

I won't be offended, so anyone who has a moment, I would appreciate knowing what is missing here so I can correct it, no matter how obvious it may be.

That's the cover bolt for the oxygen sensor probe. this will need to be threaded again and plugged as it appears to have sheared off. The other two bosses (one of which is split in half) hold the shield.

Drill it out. Thread it. Plug it.

Be careful though since the manifold is cast iron and subject to cracking especially after years of heat cycles, not sure if this requires special technique to tap.

stevehose is right,
heat shields have two mounting points
that is the place for a sensor, not sure if oxigen or CO, but in any case should be capped

I have a pair of manifolds with no opening there and another with an m6 I think bolt. We never had a sensor of any kind there.

The sensor(s) was used when tuning the orignal Zeniths for emissions compliance. From the manual:

"Remove the screw plugs from the exhaust manifolds and insert
test probes 7062.
Connect the exhaust emissions tester."

could you just clean it out and plug it with J B Weld?

JBWeld will not last in that hot manifold, I know from experience (egr fitting).
