I've got a '72 CSi that was imported from Italy. The odometer shows about 67,000 km. In general, it looks pretty good, minor rust issues I had fixed, a little thread bare in the interior but not bad for a 40 year old car.

When I changed the 4 speed out for a five speed, the clutch looked beat, the pressure plate was toast, totally torn up. Replaced it with one from a 635i.

I am having some intermittent issues with the D-Jet which we tracked down to the TPS having a "flat" spot, or worn point, right about 60-65 MPH with very light throttle. It would cut out for an instant.

So, does the car really have 167,000 km? Is there any way to tell (no maintenance records)? Seems like 67,000 km is premature for a TPS failure, even if it's 40 years old.

Thoughts?

The clutch shouldn't be beat at 67,000km, neither should the interior. Please Post some photos of your new baby. Sounds nice.

Fly wheel. Don't know if you can see the grooves, pretty deep.

Friction disk. It actually looks pretty good, wonder if it has been changed?

sometimes those friction plates have a manufacturer or date code stamp to help with the age

Stupid question, does the engine number match the chassis. If not, then it has 267,000 km.
