What do you guys use on our babys to detail out the car? I mean after a wash and wax, is there some sort of spray on/wipe off liquid out there that can take off any dirt or dust without having to wash the whole car again? Sort of like if you go to a car show and want to do the final buff out before judging.

I seem to remember a guy doing that to his car when I was in the Jag club here

When I got my car 2 years ago I washed and clay bar'd it with Zaino system. Then used their polish followed by layers of clear seal, gloss enhancer, and grand finale. For maintenance now I just wipe it down before and after a drive with the gloss enhancer. Occasional clear seal/grand finale layer when motivated. Haven't washed it since.

ii bought my car five years ago
i have never washed it nor drove in the rain

once a week i wipe the dust from the paint with a very soft paper cloth, and then i pour some instant wax from the chemical brothers, or showtime from meguiars, and wipe again with a cloth
occasionally i would go throug a more detailed liquid wax application using resine wax from AUTOGLYM
and that is all

My car gets dusty in the garage and I have used a California Duster followed by Meguiars Quick Detailer a few times to keep it looking nice in the Living Room. When I wash it, I will use several buckets and no hose, followed by compressed air. I am going to coat it eventually with Krown Rust inhibitor on a yearly basis. Will do my best to never drive it in the rain even though I have wipers on my headlights.

Thanks. I'll probably go with the Meguires, looks to be available at Wally World.

Just an aside, have you all noticed how it's difficult to find stuff at a store these days? I Googled several of the suggestions above and got nothing but internet sales. So I'd have to order it then wait some number of days before it shows up.

I'd rather drive my Coupe to the store and just buy it 8)

Maybe I'm just old fasioned....

Edit: I use the Autoglym stuff on my motorcycles. Excellent product but seems to be only available on this side of the Pond via Amazon.com

I also like the instant gratification of local buying but this stuff lasts forever and
is so easy to use with good results it's made me an online convert.

One can get lost looking at all the car care/paint products and reviews out there. Zanio may be in the running too.

To complicate matters, what do you use for a cleaning/polishing cloth? Is a microfiber towel the way to go? I image a terry towel is pretty low on the scale these days

For polishing and clear seal I use a round 6" microfiber pad. For the grand finale I use a cotton towel folded in quarters flipped often per the instructions. For the gloss enhancer maintenance I used microfiber towels I buy in packs at Sam's.
