Howdy Coupers,

Thought I'd spread the word of a local car show happening - Sat, Sept 6th, 10-2pm-ish in San Francisco's East Bay town of Orinda.

Last year we had quite a mix of local/regional hardware from wooden spokers, muscle cars, Euros, and some exotica on display. Show has been growing every year.

Show is free, also a local farmers market is just down the road that day too. BTW -there are some great roads to explore/tour in the area.

I know there will be at least on Coupe on display...

Long-time lurker here but I'll be at the show. The E9 (a chamonix '72 with 3.9L M30) will be staying at home but I'll look forward to meeting you & others there!

Last year I saw a coupe on one of the side streets outside the show, gathering plenty of admiring looks from folks passing by. It really is a nice, low-key show.

Come say hi if you spot a Jaguar E-type with the plate "66 E," strung up with a child seat.

Great! What color E-type?
My dad had a '72 BRG E-type 4.2 2+2, love them ol' Jags. (must be some thing to do big sixes!) My older brother and I have some fond memories of taking it out when he got his first driver's liscence at 16, good times! I guess Dad knew what he was doing....

Last year there were two E9 coupes I was aware of - my two-toned primered 'rat rod' and a nice white example 'came out of the hills' from somewhere, they were parked next to each other, owner was a nice fella......was that you perhaps?

Not my car but now I remember it -- I looked around for the owner with a "we have twin cars separated at birth" story but never met him. And, now that you've mentioned it, your car sounds familiar too!

The Jag is in Opalescent Blue. Not the original color, but the previous owner did a very nice job with the restoration. (Pics here.) It too has been somewhat hotrodded (still an E-type engine though) which I'm sure makes purists cringe.

Totally hear what you mean by big six engines, although in my case I also seem to freakishly attract them in a flat/boxer configuration -- at one point I had flat-6 cars from 3 countries concurrently...

Nice Jag!!

A while back a friend gave me a couple pics of a very trick, amazing blue E-type he found and printed for me after we were talking cars.

Those two pics have been on my garage walls for years helping motivate my Coupe project.............too funny, its your car!!!

Looking fwd to seeing you and yours next weekend.

BTW: had a 'super carnitas' last nite...good stuff!

Thanks guys! Looking forward to meeting everyone at the show. (If I'm not there that probably means I've gone to fetch the kids...)

I think I will bring my E9 coupe on Saturday. I also will show my '65 Lancia Fulvia 2C sedan. See you all there!

da jag

Thanks for sharing the show pics, Shanon, and Rich, that is one handsome E-type. I'm sure that the guys at the factory hated to put the front bumper on that beautiful nose as well. Nicely done. Sometimes I wish my E9 sounded like an E-type. Dave V. in NC

Indeed. I had to run ice cubes around metal interior parts before letting my kid back in the car! Thanks so much for the photo link.

Hats off to Chris for daily-driving the Lancia Fulvia 2C! The world is a better place for it.

See you all again soon,

Rich
