I would like to thank first Mr. Murray Fowler, a very gracious gentleman, for the incredible job that he did to make this meet happen. I would also like to thank Mr. Thomas Kowalke, for his efforts to make the parking go smoothly, as well as our hosts...the personnel of the William Lyon Museum. Of note of course, would be the men at Crevier Motors. Outstanding examples of the 2002 as well as the state of the art...Z8. They were also very generous to offer an invite to their wonderful mens club/collector car/storage area. Way cool...
This was a rare opportunity for me to meet others who share the passion. Thanks to all that participated. Photos for all all brothers and sisters throughout the world who share with us their knowledge for all things BMW and coupe yet could not attend...

I concur

Thanks for some super pics of this unique event. Perhaps the only engine more remarkable than our straight sixes are those fabulous radials in the B25 Mitchell. Funny that they leak oil just like our M30s. Enjoyed meeting you and others we typically only talk with on the forum. Murray certainly keeps good company and knows so many folks in automotive circles. Maybe we can convince you to travel to Monterey some year soon with your 74 CS! Wayne

Wayne, How many coupes were able to attend? I was in Phoenix with my youngest at spring training, he is a baseball nut.

Coupe numbers at Lyons event

Hi Chris, I didn't do a formal count but I was amazed at how many cars showed up, including several SoCal E9s I have not seen before at Van Nuys or Cars & Coffee. I'd estimate around 12 or 13 E9s, 4 - 6 2002s and a fabulous Rolls Royce Phantom Convertible. Also, check your pm inbox.

OMG Pamp, I didn't know you were there, I wish I had known. Murray, Thank you for the invite, we had a blast. The museum was amazing and a great reminder of the engineering prowess of our wonderful country.

I know that everyone had a great time and the BMW presence was quite impressive.

Thanks again Murray!!!

BTW Ron, nice Hartge.

Car count

FYI....my count was as follows: 14 CS/CSi/CSL coupes; 10 2002; 12 3 series; 8 8 series; 3
5 series including the Hartge (impressive) 1 Z8 coupe. I tried to meet as many as possible so am sorry if any one got missed. I was the guy in the Max Hoffman shirt.

Car count

I defer to Allen on the E9 numbers, and his Max Hoffman shirt had a "Bud" on it. Some famous person?

The shirt...
Only a small batch was made from genuine shirts of the era. "Bud" as far as I know was not famous. The only shirt that was available in a size that would fit me. We are bigger these days for sure...
