After reinstall of console the wood trim no longer fitted well, there was a gap on both sides of the kick panels that even with the rubber edges it still left a 5-6 mm gap both sides and looked poor.
I made a new wooden panel to fit with ply and veneer and used a combination of wood tints to get as close to the colour of the rest of the wood. Even with the new panel the movement of the gear shift surround when selecting reverse pushed the wood forward and would leave an ugly gap, so I made an extra trim piece to cover the gap, I know it's not standard but much better than constantly seeing the sound deadening and felt.
