Ceylon Coupe Sold

First, I want to thank everyone on this board for their valuable input over the years. My coupe, as most of you know, had been listed on ebay for sale. Again, it was a car that was restored to the stock 1973 vintage with only 102k miles. Fully documented. The buyer paid $42,000 and is now driving it down to San Diego. The gentlemen that purchased the car will continue to care for it with the same respect I had in restoring it.
This will be my last entry, for I will not own another coupe. I did what I wanted, enjoyed the quality people involved over the years and now will move onto something else.
I hope you all benefit from this sale and wish you the very best with your autos.

Great to know that done all original and correctly that the E9s will bring big money!

The seller confirmed that his $42K Ceylon E9 was "restored to stock 1973 vintage"... Is all ORIGINAL and STOCK now the best way to go with E9s?

Being a Porsche 356/early 911 along with vintage Ferrari and MB lunatic. It is good to know that our E9s when correctly restored to original condition will bring big money! It amazes me that a 1973 911T is easily worth $25-$30K but our E9s are worth only half of that! Last week a 1973 3.0CS original owner rust free Calif car was sold for only $8,000! The seller had it listed four times over a four month period and he kept lowering the price... Granted he was a MORON who did not return phone calls, but $8,000 for a very clean rust free and nice driving E9?

The last two E9s that have actually SOLD for huge money ($42K and $46K) were both fully restored to 100% original condition!

I am very new to the E9s but have been watching for the past 6 months all of the both rusty and restored E9s that are offered for sale... I know that most of you guys prefer to modify your cars with 3.5 liter Injected motors and 5 speed transmissions but the cars I have seen that are modified (even restored very nice rust free cars)do not seem to be selling... Even at much lower prices $15-$22K. Granted the E9s are much better drivers when modified but the cars that seem to SELL for ALL of the money are restored to 100% original and bone stock condition...

I know that this is not always the case but in the past few weeks it is true! Maybe the world is starting to realize that the BMW E9s deserve a lot more attention and should have a value similar to a vintage Porsche or MB!

Seems like only yesterday that we were reading your (actually Jay's) account of the crosscountry drive.
Its a beautiful coupe, the new owner is a lucky person.

As an owner of both a 74 BMW 3.0CS and a 73-1/2 Porsche 911t. Knowing that we finally are seeing a more realistic values of them is encouraging. I never intended these two to be an investment, just something that I loved having, looking at, driving and working on as a hobbiest. I may have to let one of them go soon. Although I have had the Porsche since 74 and it has a lot of fond memories I'm leaning towards keep the CS just because I think it will be the better car to have and drive. Keep the pursuit going. Hope to see you all on the road soon.
