chassis and karmann metal plates

These plates appear to have been removed from my csi at some point during a previous restoration. i've got blank plates as replacements - can anyone tell me what information goes into each space - also is it punched in or is it best to use a rub down typeface, like letraset ?

It was punched in. The Karman plate has (I think, I'm not looking at my car at the moment) the VIN and the paint code. As for the BMW plate, there should be a bunch of pictures online detailing what the numbers should be for the weights.

You can find the code under "ZUSATZ"

The bottom number is definitely the paint code. I may be wrong, but I'm not sure the top number is the VIN, it may be a different tracking code used by Karmann. I can't recall ever seeing this field on the tag filled.
