I have a dilemna. I am parting out the crunched '73 CSI that was recently for sale. Too much rust and frame damage prevent a restoration, much as I wanted to follow that route. Naturally, I am pulling the wheels off and need to throw some tires on the coupe when the carcasse finally gets picked up to be taken to the big crushing house in the sky.

Any ideas of tire/rim combos I could find on the cheap at a pick-a-part to send the coupe on its way?

Thanks in advance.

You might not need any wheels.Guys around here just winch wheeless hulk up onto rollback.Got no idea how they get them off.

Her they use a "high-ab", basically a folding crane that fits on the lorry - thats what was used to take away my last parts car

I second Paulinpa's comment - I parted out a car a couple of years back, including pulling off all of the suspension. I just put a couple of furniture dollies under the body so it could be moved over to the tilt-bed, the tow truck guy hooked up his winch, and the body was dragged onto the truck. Tilt-bed trucks have smooth metal floor, so even a body with no wheels drags fairly easily.

Now, if you intend to load it onto a trailer, you may indeed need wheels & tires. But, paying a tow company may be cheaper than buying wheels & tires for a one-time use. It cost me about $100 to get rid of my old body since it had no radiator, battery, or other parts with recycle value - I dealt with a wrecking yard located in San Clemente.

If you need to roll it, 4 space savers from a junkjard will do. Nobody ever wants those and plenty of BMWs from the last 20 years have the 5x120 circle and one of those doughnuts in the trunk

the CO-PART insurance yards use front end loaders with 20ft forks(like a fork lift) and just slide them under and pick up the hulk.
