Clone car for the registry?

Thats a bull****-mobile,
I cannot help but think that the seller HAS to be aware that that is a fake VIN.
I also cannot help but think that previous traffickers of this car had to be aware of that also,
but then I have to remember that Obama was re-elected....

no matter what anyone says though, it is a FAKE VIN

have you guys given consideration that this just might be a coupe that sat on a lot and was sold late in its life, and was titled in 1975? this did happen in the US.

Our CSi barn find, yes it was sitting in a barn under a tarp, was titled 75. The vin is probably here. It was dark green.
Awaiting a response.

i'm with you ... very bogus. so perhaps this is a long lost stolen coupe from somewhere. in looking at the pic of the VIN plate, it does look like a bad imitation. number 1, why wouldn't somebody have pop-riveted the VIN plate on. number 2, why would the weights, etc be printed on a tape.

looking forward to seeing the firewall VIN # picture.

I told the seller that as well, he claims he will send a pic of stamped firewall VIN tomorrow.

Hi Chris, hear back from them yet?

it is still a FAKE VIN, didn't some of the net discussion in other (old) threads reveal that the VIN location on the firewall had been cut out?

You know I wonder why this bugs me so much, not like I am shopping for an orange-peeled arrest-me-red shadetree project...

Or send it to George W Bush and he will declare it legitimate like the WMDs. Thaks DP for the political overlay.

Yes, BaT really blew this one. Showing a picture of a real csl in the same article is even more misleading.....

The pictures are well taken to make the car look really good... At the same time the contrast is such that you can not tell condition of the sills and the under hood shots are cropped to not show the tops of the fenders.

I know more than a few people that buy things off ebay after too many drinks, someone is going to be very disappointed if it sells. At $24k and reserve not met.

Randy and the BaT guys can't be faulted, they aren't coupe experts. This clone was discussed here in Nov 2006, how time flies!
