I've been browsing through RealOEM looking at flywheels and clutches and find that there is a great variety of them. Are the various M30 motors so different that a flywheel from a 635csi won't fit my Bavaria? I understand that there are differences with the sensors for the computers, but for a carbureted car are there specific models to avoid? Are the pressure plates and discs also peculiar to the flywheel?

Flywheel questions

Contact Jim at Mesa Performance--he is a long time guru of everything having to do with--E-3's and Bavaria--he is there today until 2:00 PM PST--That I'm sure of as I'm headed over there in about 45 minutes.

Lots of choices but for a Bav I would go with the lightweight singlemass 533i model- about 8 lbs lighter than the dualmass that ended up in the later model cars. [14#s instead of 22#s]
Buy it used and get it surfaced and you will love it.

Part # and link for flywheel hunters.... :p

The lightweight flywheel is 533i, 633i, 733i and M5's and M6's

Funny fact- the 533i was never sold in Europe. U.S. car only!

Euro guys had to buy new or ship from U.S or get machined to get what we had.

Keep in mind that factory manual cautions against using the long TO bearing with the fat flywheel and vice versa....
