I had the push rod of the clutch master cylinder fail. It was a new part fitted 3 years ago, but minimal use.
On inspection I can see that the prior MC had a bend in the push rod. On that MC, which was old, the main pressure seal tore, just after I rebuilt it!! How I laughed whilst I waited for a tow truck.

I have tried to understand what has caused this rod failure.
The blue book shows a pedal stop, which looks like a bracket, I can see how this would work. See image. However it seems RHD cars don’t have that. We do seem to have a tiny rubber plug in the pedal box assembly, see image. On my car the pedal stops before it hits that plug, I put this down to the MC valve bottoming out, but it may be the push rod locking nut hitting the slotted washer that holds the contents into the MC. On another RHD car the rubber plug is missing and pedal hits the carpet.

Anyone experienced this!
Is there a brand of MC that is more robust? I can’t find ATE, but can find TRW, Brembo. Jaymic (brand unknown) is on back order and 1 other in the U.K. has reported the rod failure with the WnN part. I have seen the part number that SF Don recommends in the E21 post, but can’t see the brand. That part number leads to the TRW and also Brembo parts I have found.
Any advice on how to build an adjustable pedal stop, is this necessary?
What I really want is not to have a 3rd ride home in a tow truck from a failed MC.
