Color code needed flying CSL Stuck

Friends,

I need to accurate color code for the CSL that Hans is driving in the flying CSL poster . .

Many think it's black, but it's really dark blue . . does anyone know the real code?

Mario, I'm sure you have been down this path - colour described as "midnight blue" by conteporary writers so suggest a BMW colour from the E12 or E28 ranges of the period perhaps (???). I would be surprised if you can get a code unless you can find an "insider" but good luck - it's a cracking colour for the car, adopted for the 1974 season!

That coupe was a Works car, so maybe BMW has the color on file? You might email Herr Harz at MT or BMW Classic, or what ever they call themselves these days and ask.

well, maybe so, it (familiar photos) looks darker than the foto of some random '02 at some random dealer's website....but, thats what fledgling BMW Motosport Gmbh said it was for '74, Atlantik.

That 2002 looks like Riviera blue to me
