There are a lot of posts regarding rebuild our cars to 5 speed.

First of all, perhaps this is a rebuild for driving a lot of miles on the highway?

Otherwise I can't really see the purpose. For normal "active" driving the 4 speed Getrag is really great. For my csi I can't see any benefits at all rebuilding the original E9. Rather the opposite.

The four speed just seems to be revving too high on the interstate (80 mph).

If you are in Sweden driving in the city or short hops to the next town...four speed is fine. Since I take the freeways/expressways frequently (with little traffic) the car drives very nicely at 110-120 km/h on fifth.
It prrrrs at a slower rpm and drives quieter...not to mention a few more km/liter. I am sure that audiomagnate has even a better driving environment for the five speed than I do.
What would you do if you drove in Athens or Rome all day long.....heck you can get away with a three speed automatic.
I think it all depends where you live and what kind of driving you do....besides if you live in Stockholm wouldn't you rather have a boat to get around?
