Cool Alpina Sign on BaT

It's a reproduction commissioned in 2015. That certainly diminishes the value for collectors.

I know nothing about signs and "collector" value...just thought it was a cool sign, maybe good for entry level collectors not concerned if reproduction or not. 99% of the people I know would have no idea.

I get compliments on my $70 Chinese watch that is actually really well built. I tell them I paid $250K (yes $250,000) for my Patek Phillippe and most don't flinch or even realize what I just said since they've never heard of a Phillippe. Then I tell them, 'just kidding" it's $70 Chinese watch and even my jeweler said it was pretty high quality (he had to take out a couple links). They have ripped off Rolex and many other watchmakers that on the surface, it is hard to tell the difference. So far, so good, even submerged.

Even if I had that kind of FU money, I would never spend it on a watch. Rolex $10K-ish used maybe, but still haven't pulled the trigger on that. They do hold their value, even used, but I would never sell it if I ever bought one so that logic would go out the window.

Like guns...I never sell unless major engineering flaws. Like Pre-War Lugers. So over engineered, if you don't have all the matching stamped pieces, they are garbage (they call them Frankenstein's). Ask me how I know...gone, never looked back, same with a Sako .308 vintage Finnish rifle, action was horrible. And it was a simple bolt action, which was garbage. Newer ones aren't bad, but I will stick to Styer or Winchester, thank you very little.

Shane, agree about entry level collectors and 99% not knowing. I am an originalist, about cars, not the Constitution. But I bend the rules at times. I mounted that chrome piece on the lip of the trunk of my Bavaria. It was only on the 68-70 25/2800s. But it was factory on those models so I justified putting it on my 72. As for the factory chrome wheel arches, I believe they were only on the 3.0si and other 74-76 models, never on a badged Bavaria. But I like the look and on they went.
