On my way to work this morning (crawling along at three miles an hour) I saw a Hyundai Veracruz and thought "now that is a cool car name."

Putting aside the associated machinery, I had some cars with pretty cool names: Bonneville, Gran Prix, Fox, and my all-time favorite the "Torino."

I miss cool car names.

Names in a theme

How about all those Maserati names synonymous with wind;

Bora (ancient Greek name for north wind)
Ghibli (Libyan wind)
Karif (Somalian wind)
Khamsin (hot dusty wind in North Africa and Arabian Peninsula)
Mistral (wind from the north that blows over the northwest coast of the Mediterranean)
Shamal (summer wind over Iraq and Persian Gulf)

Obama (hot wind inside the beltway)

While on the wind theme, VW has Scirocco, Bora, Passat, Corrado.

names...

I always have loved names...Miura, Urracco, Espada, Berlinetta, Mustang, Cobra, Javelin, Wasp, Giulietta, Gullwing, Monza, Printz, Impala, Ascona...and then there's 507, 320i, 2002tii, M1, 2000c, 1800tilux, and our beloved 3.0cs'....could be worse tho...XR4ti?
I don't mind numbers and letters when they actually mean something, at least sort of...428i Gran Coupe?...

If we are going down the worse road,

Contour…..named after a mini pad

Canyonero (SUV on the Simpsons)

Hard to beat the Japanese for, well you decide if they're cool, car names.

Suzuki Mighty Boy
Mazda Bongo
Mitsubishi Chariot Grandio Super Exceed
Isuzu GIGA 20 light dump
Nissan Elgrand Homy
Nissan Cedric

On the other hand -

Lamborghini Diablo

Not sure how Hummer came out. I would have liked to have been a fly on that wall at that meeting!
