My 1970 2800 CS obviously came with a brass tank when it was new but it was blessed with this E12 tank at some point.

I got a couple of brass tanks with the car and took one to the radiator shop that currently has my fuel tank to have it pressure tested, etc.

The engine I’ll be putting in the car has recent hoses so I decided I’d reuse them (I am very dumb) but there were a couple I didn’t get with it, one being the expansion tank hose from the rear manifold (the other being the lower radiator hose and I very stupidly bought another despite having four new ones). Obviously the hose that was on the car is pictured with the tank above.

I ordered what I thought was the right hose but there was a mistake and instead of getting 11 53 1 266 507, I received 11 53 1 266 508 which is this one:

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a really nice nose but I don’t see how it’s going to work. It actually looked to me like what you would use from the thermostat housing to the first manifold (it’s not) so I did some searching and I found a thread which said that the 508 hose is the correct hose for the brass tank and now I’m very confused.

Did I accidentally get the correct hose? What am I missing?

Thanks.

I have these pics from Munich Legends on file from teardown and build-up, that shows a hose routing that requires at least one extra bend:
Is there perhaps a difference between carb and CSi?

the reservoir hose is the one with the mouse pointer on it at the top right of the pic:

The metal tank 17 11 1 114 790 uses 11 53 1 251 576, the synthetic tank 17 11 1 103 176 uses 11 53 1 255 097. The CSi uses 11 53 1 256 500 but it doesn’t reference metal or synthetic tanks and the hose is straighter.

It appears 507 you reference is for the metal tank, 508 for synthetic as the part numbers have been superseded.

Chris - You're probably already on your way, but for what it's worth - here are pics of mine from a '72 3.0 CS with the metal tank. Part # ends in "507"
