Astonished to discover this is Brass. Took it apart, straightened, got most dents out and re-soldered.(OH, and a lot of sanding). Is there any requirement to paint?

Some of us go commando and just keep it polished, no paint.

We use clear coat after polishing because we are lazy.

I like it. Nothing wrong with clear coat. I just seems a bit incongruous and turned me into a plumber. looks good in your car.

you can paint it with Cerakote ceramic coatings the heat will not damage
