Correct color?

Does this look like the OEM color for the CSi air cleaner? Chris says it's RAL 7022 but might not be the perfect stock color. Anything closer? And should I paint it or powder coat it?

No idea what the streaks are. One of the reasons I originally thought it was plastic, i.e., melted spots. But it is indeed metal of some sort.

if Chris is HB Chris, I would go with his information. He is pretty fastidious and I doubt anyone will get a closer match to original.

7022 is close for a standard color, color matching can be more precise. It's steel.

Not sure what Chris would recommend but if steel, I definitely would powder coat in engine bay. But go with what Chris recommends. Problem with that is a lot of times the powdercoater's paint will not be exact match to 7022, I just went through this with my E3 (different cleaner but steel just the same). It turned out great in my opinion. If not a concours car, then close is good enough usually, just bring it physically down to the powdercoater and match it up.
