The PO had the door panels leather covered to match the seats. He left off the horizontal alum strips and map pockets. Since the judging at LOTA includes the interior, I needed to make everything correct. Well, correct the way I wanted them.
@Alprado70 in Bogata made the alum. strips and backing tabs. And months ago I bought the map pockets that were from an E24 633. The color was a light tan.
My panels were custom-made with thicker backer boards and foam to cover the large nylon pins that hold the panels on the door. Nothing was original to start.
The metal tabs had to be laser cut by a local machine shop to fit the new panels, and the pocket doors were covered in matching leather, and the nylon bellows were dyed to match the leather.
I now have front & rear panels with the original herringbone pattern vinyl top and leather bottoms with the correct hardware to go along with the leather-covered armrests.
The work was done by a family-owned trim business that I have known for about 30 years--Shamrock Auto Trim in North Miami.
Here are pics of the before, during and after.
