correct front shocks 3.0 csi Alpina

Hello, I have bought 2 front Bilstein gas shocks ref. A 31 32 1 114479 but they seem not to be the correct ones. To big and don't fit. Does someone know the correct reference? I believe the shocks where fitted by Alpina, in it's day.

Bilsteins don't fit

Bilstein HD inserts, #34-000243, don't fit my '74 CS coupe. NOt only will they not fully insert into the strut, the threaded collar ring is too big. Given their apparent wide-spread use,WTF? Anybody had these problems? Maybe I have struts from an E3 or E12 or something. At this point I think...
