A friend of mine has a genuine CSL (swoon!) but the cylinder head is badly corroded. Realoem says it's the same head for carbed cars. Did they use a plate over the fuel pump hole on injected cars, or is that a matter of consolidating replacement parts? (I haven't personally inspected the car to know if there's a plate) I've also read there's 3 different versions of the same part number depending when it was made. Very confusing stuff. Fuel injected E12 heads have a different part number, but is there any real difference? Would be nice to keep it original but he might be more interested in just keeping it running for the time being.

The goal for csl cars is injected head with correct date. No plate.
That is a bitch to find as never sold here as csi or csl.
They show up once a year or so.

Hmm in that case I feel like the original head could be repaired in less than a year, no matter how bad it is. But would an E12 head work as an interim solution?

How can that be? 83+ would be motronic.

Don't use a m90 head on a early block
Do use a 533i, or later equivelent head
Same bore
535i heads or equivalent heads are fine too.
No b35 heads

Layne- I think it's very very important to keep the coupe cam in whatever head you install. Coupe cams have a "3" stamped in them.
That is a 272 degree cam
All the others (7,h,k,m) cams are 260-264
Stick with the "3" cam
