Is there any reference for the correct finishes of the engine bay? whats is cadmium plated, how shiny should the rad overflow tank be? colour of the engine block, the oil filter case, brackets holding the braking and power steering components to the inner fender, finish of the front suspension parts, hood latches, engine mount brackets

Engine Bay

Not original, not much is. But short of pulling the engine.

Engine Bay Finish

I will put forth my opinion which others may agree or disagree with:

If it's black it is satin/semi-gloss: coolant expansion tank, brake booster and mount, AC dryer and muffler and their mounting brackets (the straps/clamps are clear cad), PS pump, PS reservoir, motor mounts, cover over interior heater blower, radiator brackets

Unfinished metal or clear cad: oil filter housing on block, bracket that holds power steering pump, alternator bracket, hood latches on body, hood latches on hood (subject to debate, many are black including mine).

For the nuts/bolts what some refer to as yellow cad was actually gold iridite (an example is the engine lifting strap mounted near water pump) and is lighter than yellow cad which is all you can find these days. Brake lines are clear cad.

The Ceylon CS in Utah should be studied to get the official answer, it has only 24K miles.

The yellow metal parts are probably gold iridite (chromate conversion coating) over cadmium.

I did the iridite/cadmium plating on all the metal brackets on my engine when I rebuilt it. It is not the stock appearance, but looks nice.

thanks for the input, i think i will be 50% gloss powder coating the black parts for durability, the air cleaner on my 72 CSL is an olive green colour, what finish is the linkage rods for the accelerator? and the clips for the air cleaner

Why is the hood yellow inside the holes where it is visible? Did the CSi's have a brake reservoir that sits on the master cylinder? The regulator should have a green or yellow tape around it's base, this one looks black? Just wondering.

Global Grooves--a friendly suggestion--if you are asking about a US spec car there will be some minor differences--so being specific as to your particular E-9 will help in answering your questions--as "one size doesn't quite fit all"

Does anyone sell a rebuild kit for these brake boosters made by ATE?
