Coupe Articles

First article a little outdated given the state of our economy... still fun to read and I have
HOPE that one day we will be a hot item.

I agree those numbers thrown out by the guy from La Jolla were just not realistic. Who is going to pay $25-30K for a coupe and then dump $80K for restoration. I can buy a restored Bat for $110K.

I think that is because LaJolla asks for ~15-25k for a B35 transplant.

But who will pay that kind of money?

It seems some people do, although I can't see spending that much on a car resto outside of something really special, like a Cord Supercharged. I was pointing the price out as a possible reason why he quoted the resto prices as so high. Of course, for that kind of money it had better be absolutely perfect, in every way, and have some special pedigree for me to even consider it.

I hope our cars Never become, "hot properties." Is there anyone out there who bought a coupe as an investment to supplement their Social Security?
The Only way I could afford my first coupe was because they were/are under the sonar.
Way under in my opinion.

I am delighted they have never been discovered by the Barret-Jackson crowd.

I bought my coupe to drive it!
I like driving a car that one does not see coming and going. Also, the ride and handling are most satisfactory. I dont need 400 horsepower.
Although I would love to get my coupe up to the JabberJaw level of beauty...
So in the final analysis, even if the car appreciated to some exhorbitant sum of say $60K, I would not sell, what would I buy for $60K, nothing that pleases me as much as my coupe.
So value is moot except for insurance replacement purposes.
