Any suggestions on the best procedure? I just moved to a coastal area and fear the worst every night…what are my options?

Basically want to quell the chances with wax, converter or anything that will help buy me time…

I really do appreciate responses and would like to keep this thread serious as I may have to sell my coupe if the storage is not addressed somehow until a garage or better yet repairs.

TIA

Ps I have ordered a car cover and will post an update soon — really appreciated the help on that as well..

Can you find somewhere to store it inside? People all over the Portland area rent out their extra garage space. My buddy has his M635 parked at the neighbors across the street because she does't need a three car garage and he's out of space. Maybe check FaceBook.

Using a car cover for a car that’s gonna be in the rain a lot is really just a decision to ruin the water base Paint..

that may be the best idea and I will be directing my efforts that way as soon as I have a lead — my move was fast so there is still some catching up to do.

My coupe is a nice driver that needs attention but I am 100% not pleased with the situation I have created. I am hoping it will push me further to get done what I need to do & appreciate the resourcefulness of this forum.

Coming on 20 years ownership & it’s an hard not put more effort than I am doing at the moment.

Do you have the space for a car trailer?
I found a great deal on a used one and this is how I store my e9, along with two spare engines, a few large cases and many boxes of parts, and three sets of wheels.

Thanks gentlemen — all great suggestions and I need to do some research to get it right.

One hope I have is landing a used car bubble in the area and working with that if all else fails….surprised I have not read about the (carcoon) here but that is an another solution also.

Cheers,

Mo

what about one of those awnings, like a collapsible car port tent? Those don’t look great but would buy you some time. And probably cheaper in the long run than the bubble once you factor in the blower motor as @tdgray mentioned.

For rust proofing I just sprayed all the cavities with Eastwood internal frame coating. Then followed it a couple days later with a cavity wax. You can look at my build thread for pics of the cavities that I sprayed. But it was lots of hours work to jack up the car, remove the rocker covers, remove the panels behind the front wheels, clean out the rocker drains, spray all the cans… and even with multiple spray wands I’m not convinced I got complete coverage.

That might be good for you in the long run, to help with moist salty air, but in the short term if it’s raining I think finding some sort of cover should be your first priority.
