coupe spotted:

Shannon,

I bet you had a great ride around the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains and foothills of California. I wasn't there but would enjoy doing it - "The Motherload 400"; maybe next year!

All spur drives off of the n/s route HWY 49 (Golden Highway) throughout the Sierra's are fantastic...it appears you were south of Auburn doing the 88? Did you get up the pass over to 395 or just do one of the loops down to Angels Camp or up to Placerville area?? I was raised up in Grass Valley, cruised and backpacked throughout this range...Sher Schon!!

wasn't me, was doing the papa-day thang.
the coupe spotted in the pics looked silver or blue with some later style wheels.

but yes, drives behind Jackson area and HWY 4 south of Markleeville are outstanding = high altitude Mtn passes with some river runs

;-)

Viva Vincenzo!

Check out the red Lancia Fulvia coupe, very cool car! It was introduced in 1966 - the FWD Fulvia was successful in rallies and won the Euro crown in 1969 and 1973.

I was in the American Lancia Club for a few years around 1980 and attended a West Coast reunion in Cambria. Great people, and there were a few Fulvias and a Stratos in attendance. The short wheelbase Stratos surprised it's owner by swapping ends on a couple of the driving events. He was extremely lucky as the car was unscathed.

We lived in San Jose at the time and that weekend plus a few others convinced us to relocate to the Central Coast. Our Lancia was a late Beta sedan, underpowered but a great handler and very good for carving through traffic on 17 to Santa Cruz.
