coupe spotting: LemOns Pheonix!

Here's the photo I think Shanon was referring to.

In the discussion following the article, someone wrote: "Kinda sad to see an E9 doing LeMons duty". I have to agree - the car seems to be running with a full set of chrome bumpers, all its grilles (including the R side faux grille), and beltline trim. It may be rusted, but I would have harvested the trim parts before entering it in a demolition derby.

I'm assuming it was dragged out of the desert for free after being left for dead, and since the old M30 fired, it was time to go racing!

Note that the car received 30 BS penalty laps for appearing to be over-budget on the $500 acquisition and equipment equation. Cars can reduce their overall value by selling off components if I remember correctly. Makes you wonder why the grilles and trim weren't sold off.

Rusty coupes should be able to run in the Lemons as long as they aren't going to imminently fold up on the track. Seems like a fulfillment of the heritage of the car if it's no longer collectible.

Why not let 'em race before they oxidate completely?

.....sorta like a "Viking burial".

If you gonna go, go big, and might as well go down in flames.....

LOL!
