Hi all, had an interesting thing happen today with my coupe and thought i would share. I live in NYC and bought my coupe 2 years ago from a shop that used to service it and was selling for the estate of the family. I went to pick up my mother in the building drive way where i actualy grew up and while waithing for her to come down, a young college girl (my moms bldg is part of an NYU complex) came over to the car and was really checking it out.strange as she was so young but it is a unique car. I said hi and she informed me that this type of car in the same color combo was her family car as she was growing up.I assumed she was from out of NY but she then said she grew up on the westside of manhattan and that prompted me to ask her her dad's name as i knew it from the old registration and behold my car was her family car. What are the odds of that? a small world in deed. her dad was an attorney for the NY DAs' office and drove it reguarly for the 15 years he had it. We exchanged info and hopefully her mom may have records of the car so maybe i can get more info as there was not much that came with the car. I'm glad she got to see it was in good hands as i did a lot to get it back into driver shape as it sat for 8 years after her dad passed away. Just thought i would share.
cheers,

I'm more impressed that you were driving your coupe in the dead of winter in the northeast....after two weeks of snow! Watch out for potholes!

great story though

Cool story. Just curious, as a daily driver in NY for so many years what is the condition of the body?

That is definitely a great story. I once saw a coupe on the street in Brooklyn (DUMBO) and went over to the owner to chat. Well, he could care less that he was driving a coupe, much less that another owner wanted to say hello and chat. Good for you; seems like your graciousness was well rewarded.

Thanks for all the replies and glad you all liked my story. To answer a few questions: no date as she was half my age and I already have a girlfriend. Since the coupe has been an east coast car it does have rust in the firewall and some peeping out through the front shock towers. the floors were done to a driver's standard and the spare tire well is very fiberglassed. the p.o. just kept it to a driver's standard but no other rust is showing and it was painted 15 years ago so it looks pretty good. i do drive her often although not in the snow when there is salt( i use my rusty 2002 for that0 but on this day it was sunny and there was no more salt and it was my mom's 76 birthday so i was taking her to lunch so i wanted to do it in high style all the way so that is why the coupe was out in the dead of winter! I plan on taking it to matt or mario to see if they can fix the rust in a cost efffective way so i can kept enjoying it. I wish acat2002 would also redo my wood as his came out really great.!! When i get my my camera back i willl post pics of it for you all to see,
cheers,
