Hi,
Considering selling my coupe. Trying to get an idea on value
I Just read the hagerty values on our Coupes. I'm a little confused the average value is around 22,700 on what kind of car is that based a 2 or 3 I hope? How is this value based, if anybody has am idea would be helpful to know .Anyway would be great to know what the latest market prices are, would be helpful in determining the value of my coupe.

Thanks
D smith

It always help to post pictures of rust area's and the condition & extra's on the car.Than we can give you some help with pricing.
Good luck with the sell.

D,

We need specifics, mileage, mechanical condition, motor, paint, interior, trim, etc. Post some photos we could give you a range of expectations.

Chris

I'm just talk about average values for coupes in general
averages work for parts cars, rust buckets and highly finished coupes. in all other discussions, to dial in a value, the items Chris has mentioned come into play. the more important things are rust, paint, trim, interior conditions. mechanical is cheaper to fix.

if i took a wildassguess at a coupe with no glaring issues, but in at best average condition might be 25k +/- 3k.

a coupe with nice paint, trim + interior might be 35k +/- 5k

a coupe in really nice condition 45k to 55k depending on cs or csi or other extenuating circumstances.

a highly restored or concours condition 65k to 100k

if you want to look at it another way from values of a few years ago, what used to be an 18k to 22k car is now a 25k to 28k car.

what was a 25k to 30k car is now a 33k to 38k

what was a 40k car is now a 50k to 55k car.

does this help?

I bought my coupe nine months ago; here is the tread on the valuation discussion we had concerning my car: http://www.e9coupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16520

When I insured my car, I told Hagerty that their values were low, and pointed them specifically to this thread. I presume they are giving too much weight to the eight or ten rusty coupes that turn over on ebay every couple of months.

In my view, the trashier versions of our cars are not indicative of the value of the nice ones. There is a huge gap.

i literally just went thru this today ... with Hea**** Classic. I know the c-o-c-k end of the insurance companies' name won't show up ... so i spelled it out. i was changing from hagerty since they raised my premium by 25% for no particular reason ... and didn't change the insured value of my car. i had done all the negotiations and got my quote - filed and paid ... then underwriting came back and said that they couldn't insure it over 30k.

after sending them the Bloomberg article (with the Hagerty) 20% in 3 years quote ... and the fact that Hagerty insured my car 4 years ago for 30k ... that would put it at a minimum of 36k. then i got into the 2800cs vs 3.0cs discussion, cars up for sale at 35k in my area over the last year ... and low and behold, i'm now insured for 40k.

At the Naples, FL "Cars on Fifth" show two weeks ago, I was talking with the owner of a beautiful blue 308 GT4 and an officer of the local Ferrari club. The officer guy said flatly that they have lots of good data on the value of old Ferraris, and that based on the data it is not hard for Ferrari owners to obtain proper insurance coverage for their vehicles.

Now, I'm not sure whether he recounted this to illustrate one of the multitude of ways Ferrari owners are superior to BMW owners, or whether his assertion was accurate, but I thought I would toss this out there.
