On my Csi, will the side markers (one on each side) serve as turn blinkers? My car is being restored over 300 miles away and I have not had opportunity to even check this out. Also, can I expect problems with injectors (car supposedly has 65k miles - around 110km) as it has not been started for 6 months? What inherent problems with csi fuel injectors?
Thanks

On the markers, they are not currently set up to be blinkers. This conversion could possibly be made, however, if you want both the marking and blinking functions through a single filament bulb you would need to be creative. I think that a simple diode configuration might be possible. I'll be happy to sort it out with you if you want to do it.

blinkers

If by restoration you mean that the car is getting painted, I'd remove the reflectors front and rear, patch the hole prior to paint.

What??

TodB,
Why would I want to take off the side markers? Do you find them to be "ugly"? Were they not original on the Csi? I want the car to be as origianl as possible.

side marker questions--originality?

They were required by DOT for ALL vehicles brought into the USA--whether by the original importing entity--or in your case by the individual who imported the CSi in order to meet that federal requirement

as shared previously on this board--All E-9's were originally imported by Hoffman Motors--the then exclusive importer of BMW's and many other European cars--and ALL officially imported E-9's were carbuerated--

I'm assuming that your CSi is a European model and not a US spec car that has been fitted with a fuel injected motor. The simple reason for carbed only E-9's--Hoffman accurately recognized there were few if any U.S. mechanics qualified to service or repair electronically fuel injected E-9's then--efi E-9's were first introduced in Europe with the 1971 model year.

As to originality--it would not be an oiginal feature of a Euro CSi

Hoffman thought wrong

VW used Bosch D-jet in the '68 through '74 Type III cars - the Squareback and Fastback. I don't know what injection was used in the 411 and 412 models which replaced my great old T3s (only one of which was injected).

Type 3's sold fairly well, and many ran long service, attesting (I suggest) wo a well implemented and relatively trouble-free installation. Heck even the Idiot's Guide addressed diagnosis, service and repair of the injected models.

Volvo used Djet in one of their models too, whose exact identification presently escapes me. They put it on a 3-liter, and that ECU can be used in coupes. How 'bout that, Max baby? I think he missed the boat if your suggestion about lack of competent mechanics is correct.

You should not encounter any problems with the fuel injectors after 6 months or even longer for that matter. The only problem that you may have is that the car may ping under hard acceleration when first started due to the gas going off in the tank , this will pass once the gas is used up.
